Coronavirus Travel FAQs | Domestic Air Travel

GoAir has resumed it's flight operations. We have followed all the norms as per the government mandated guidelines. If you are planning to fly, then listed below are the answers to the queries you may have regarding domestic air travel in the current COVID-19 scenario.

 




    



    

Can I pre-book my seat?

Yes. You can pre-book your seat while booking the flight or during web check-in.


What is the permissible limit to carry liquids on the flight?

The permissible limit to carry liquid on-board the flight is 100 ml only. Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, you are advised to use hand sanitizer frequently. Hence, you are allowed to carry a bottle of sanitizer of up to 350 ml in your cabin baggage.


What is the cabin and check-in baggage allowance for the flight?

As per the passenger guidelines for air travel, you are allowed to carry only one check-in bag and one cabin bag. GoAir specifies that check-in baggage should not weigh more than 20 kg. Also, the cabin bag should not exceed 115 cm and not weigh more than 7 kg. To know more click here.

What is the reporting time for the flights?

You are expected to report 3 hours before the departure of the flight. This is to ensure you have a contact-less and hassle-free boarding.


Is web check-in mandatory?

Yes. Web check-in is now mandatory as per the new flight travel guidelines. You can do a web check-in for your flight from 72 hours until 60 minutes before the departure.


Do I have to check-in my baggage online? How will I receive the check-in baggage receipt?

Yes. To avoid crowding at the baggage counter, you are required to check-in your baggage online. You will be provided with an electronic receipt either via SMS or through email.

How do I put my baggage tag on my check-in baggage?

For tracking your baggage, you will be provided with the baggage identification number. You can print it and affix it on your bag at a prominent place. If you are unable to print it, then you can mention the PNR number and your name on a piece of paper and affix it with a strong string on your bag.

Will I get an e-boarding pass?

Yes. You will get an e-boarding pass after you have done the web check-in and submitted the health declaration form.

What is the check-in process at the airport?

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, there are specific changes in the way you will check-in for your flight at the airport. The process is as follows:

  • To avoid queues at the airport, you are required to do a mandatory web check-in which includes checking in your baggage online and filling a self-declaration form
  • As you reach the airport, you will undergo thermal screening. You need to show your health status on the ‘Aarogya Setu’ app along with the e-boarding pass
  • For baggage drop, you are required to self-drop the baggage on the belt
  • After the baggage drop, you can move towards the boarding gate

All through the check-in process at the airport, there will be clear indicators for social distancing to avoid physical contact or crowding. Make sure you follow these indicators.

Is it mandatory to register on the Aarogya Setu app?

As per the government guidelines for air travel, it is mandatory to show your health status on the Aarogya Setu app.


What is the closure time for check-in and boarding the flight?

As contactless travel is the norm, web check-in is mandatory. However, check-in counters close 60 minutes before the departure of the flight. Boarding gates for the flights close 25 minutes before the departure.


Do I need to wear a mask all through my journey?

Yes. As per the government guidelines for air passengers, you are requested to wear your mask at all time as a part of your personal hygiene. To know more about air travel guidelines,click here.

What to do if a traveller starts feeling sick in-flight?

If a co-passenger is unwell on the aircraft, then it should be brought to the notice of the crew. Every airline, including GoAir, has established procedures to minimise the risk to others in such cases.

What precaution do I need to take in-flight while travelling?

For in-flight you can take precautions as follows:

  • Washing hands frequently
  • Avoiding touching the mouth, nose, or face
  • Practising social distancing
  • Carrying a hand sanitizer for frequent use
  • Avoiding touching surfaces such as trays or handles in an airplane

Is GoAir taking any precautions to sanitise their aircraft?

The safety or our customers and employees is of utmost priority in these trying times. The aircraft are being cleaned using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved hospital-grade disinfectant. The deep cleaning of the aircraft includes the cabin, on elements in the flight deck, and in the lavatory. Additionally, GoAir has also taken cleaning measures at airports and across GoAir offices.


What are the quarantine rules for the destination state?

Each state/city has come with its own guidelines and protocols for air travellers. You should check these guidelines and regulation of your destination state before booking the flight. You can check all the state-wise regulations here.

What if I am not allowed to fly due to high temperature recorded during thermal screening?

If during thermal screening, you are detected with high temperature, then you will not be allowed to board the flight. In such a case, you can reschedule the flight for another date.

How can I declare I am fit for air travel?

To declare that you are fit for travel, you can update your health status on the Aarogya Setu app, and fill the health declaration form.

Am I allowed to fly if I am from a containment zone?

If you are from a containment zone, then you should avoid travelling.

Will GoAir sanitise the luggage while loading and off-loading?

It is advisable to self-sanitise the luggage. However, all airports and airlines, including GoAir, have enhanced their preventive measures to safeguard and protect the health of the passengers.

What is social distancing? Why is it important?

Social distancing or physical distancing is where people are advised to avoid crowds and stay at home. This helps in limiting the spread of pathogens from a virus. Are temperature checks in place at Airports?

Yes. Thermal screening is in place at Airports.
