GoAir
completes one glorious fly smart year
Captures 4% market share with over 1 million passengers
flown |
| |
Mumbai, 9th November 2006: GoAir,
India’s premium smart cost carrier completed
one year of operations in November having already
captured 4%+ market share and flown a million passengers.
GoAir is now set to expand its operations, flights
and fleet with an aim to garner a 10% market share
in the coming year of operations. From a start up
having 1 aircraft and 6 flights a day to 7 aircraft
and 61 flights in November 2006, GoAir has come a
long way to become one of the fastest growing airlines
in the country. |

Commenting on the occasion
Mr. Jeh Wadia, Managing Director said “It’s
indeed a proud and emotional moment for me to see
the fruition of one year’s hard work and effort
from my team that has taken us to great heights. GoAir
will continue in this vein and will spare no effort
to be the leader in the LCC space over the next couple
of years. Our load factors are a reflection of our
dedication and commitment to high quality service
to our passengers through on time performance.” |
| |
Innovation and premium
quality service has become the hall mark of the start
up from the Wadia Group headed by Managing Director,
Mr. Jeh Wadia. The promise quality is reflected in
its 98% on time performance, with an average turn
around time between flights being 25 mins. GoAir were
the first to offer free seats through their online
booking service www.goair.in,
where passengers could avail of a free flight ticket
exclusive of taxes by simply checking the web site.
The GoAir challenge was another innovation where passengers
were challenged to find a lower fare on the same route
within the same time belt and were offered a refund
of twice the difference between fares and their cancellation
fees. Needless to say there were no takers for the
same proving the fact that they were indeed the lowest
fare available on the sectors they flew. |
| |
Another first among many
was the first direct flight connecting Mumbai to Srinagar
which has made GoAir the leader on that sector with
over 90% load factors on all its flights to the J&K
region. GoAir has also amassed significant loads factors
on the Goa sector and very recently tied up with Goa
Tourism Development Corporation Limited - GTDC - to
promote tourism to Goa and to develop a common brand
‘GoGoa’. |
| |
In March 2006 the
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced
GoAir as the official carrier for the India –
England one-day international cricket (ODI) series.
The airline operated special flights and carried both
teams to the matches to be played in Delhi, Goa, Cochin,
Guwahati, Ranchi, Indore, and Mumbai during the month
of April 2006. GoAir also launched the lowest cost
in flight shopping with AVA merchandising and continues
to lead the way in innovations with various promotions
and offers to its passengers.
