Jet Airways coach hits GoAir aircraft parked at Mumbai airport
GoAir aircraft sustains significant damage; no injury to GoAir customers or personnel
Mumbai, December 29, 2011: GoAir would like to inform that an Airbus A320 aircraft belonging to its fleet, parked at the Mumbai airport, was damaged by a bus coach (from Jet Airways) early this morning. There was no passenger or personnel on-board the parked Aircraft.
GoAir would like to reiterate that the aircraft was parked as per the policy and norms of Mumbai airport. GoAir adds that there was no injury to any GoAir customer or personnel due to the incident. The aircraft, however, has had to be temporarily withdrawn from service due to the significant damage incurred and it may be grounded for several days. A detailed investigation of the damages is in progress.
The incident happened at around 4.30am when the bus belonging to Jet Airways hit the nose of the GoAir aircraft parked on the tarmac.
GoAir is taking all possible measures to assist its customers and a management team has been immediately deputed to the airport to coordinate assistance.
Following this incident, a total of three flights were cancelled and four delayed on 29th December. Customers from cancelled flights have been re-accommodated on alternate flights. All other GoAir flights today are operating as per schedule.
